The hotel is located in the valley on the southern banks of the Douro River, just 7 minutes from Peso da Régua. The resort lies between the river and laced tiers of the vineyards, in the heart of the Douro wine and port wine region; a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where dramatic vistas and panoramic landscapes are touched by a gentle, fresh breeze. Aquapura Douro Valley is set in a place of memories past, where today, tradition and modernity unite to create a perfectly unique environment. Links to the public transport network are around a 5-minute drive. Francisco de Sá Carneiro Airport is situated at a distance of approximately 142 km.

Opened in June 2007, the hotel has become a reference in the world of luxury hotels. It features 50 rooms in an entirely renovated 19th century manor house, 21 villas of pure contemporary design, a 2,200 m² spa for pure indulgence and a 5-hectare woodland by the river bank in the magnificent setting of the Douro Valley. The air-conditioned establishment features a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out services, a hotel safe, currency exchange facilities and lift access. Guests may dine in the café or sip their favourite drink in the bar. Internet access is available at the premises. For additional fees guests may make use of the room and laundry services. Those arriving by car may leave their vehicle in the car park. Guests may hire bicycles on-site.

Rooms
The rooms and villas come with river and vineyard views, tucked amongst lush, tree-filled gardens. The en suite bathrooms are fitted with a shower, bath and hairdryer. Standard in-room amenities include a double bed, direct dial telephone, satellite/cable TV, a radio and Internet access. Furthermore, a safe, minibar and individually regulated air conditioning and heating feature in all accommodation.

The hotel serves a buffet breakfast and lunch and dinner à la carte.

There is a spa and fitness centre with gym, indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools and a tennis court available on site. The Aquapura Spa uses natural, organic and indigenous ingredients to provide visible results and the utmost relaxation through massage and beauty treatments. Guests may also take advantage of the sauna and steam room. Amarante Golf is roughly 40 minutes away by car (fees apply). Guests may explore the surrounding area on bicycle (for a fee).

From Vila Real (33 km): take the A24 towards Viseu and leave at the Armamar exit. Bear right descending towards the river. At the roundabout head for Resende on the N222. Cross the bridge and turn right onto the N222 Resende. Continue for about 4 km. From Oporto (142 km): take the A4 for Vila Real, the IP4 main route towards Amarante and then the A24 for Viseu. Take the Armamar exit and then right descending towards the river. At the roundabout, head for Resende on the N222. Cross the bridge and turn right onto the N222 Resende. From Lisbon (364 km): take the A1 towards Aveiro and then the A25 for Viseu. Continue on the A24 towards Vila Real and take the Armamar exit. Take a right descending towards the river. At the roundabout head for Resende on the N222. Cross the bridge and turn right onto the N222 Resende.
